Carmen Electra reveals why she still wants men to make the first move

Carmen Electra is embracing a traditional approach to modern dating, revealing that she still prefers men to take the initiative when romance begins.

The Baywatch star shared her dating advice in a conversation with Playboy, describing herself as "old fashioned" when it comes to meeting potential partners.

While she admitted she has subtle ways of showing interest, Electra said she believes the first move should come from the man.

“I’m old fashioned, so I prefer if the man makes the first move,” she said.

However, the actress acknowledged that she may give a few hints, joking that she has been known to “do a little walk, sway the hips a little bit” and “bat my eyelashes” before walking away. If a man is genuinely interested, she believes he will approach or offer his phone number.

Electra also offered advice to men hoping to date middle-aged women, stressing that timing and effort matter.

According to the actress, late-night invitations sent at the last minute are unlikely to make a good impression.

Instead, she encouraged men to plan ahead by calling or texting earlier in the day and arranging a proper date.

“What you really need to do is make sure you don’t call her and say, ‘Hey, come meet me at a bar right now,’ when it’s midnight,” she said, calling that approach a “huge no-no.”

She explained that many women appreciate having time to prepare and make plans, adding that an invitation to dinner with advance notice is far more thoughtful than a spontaneous late-night message.

Beyond first impressions, Electra said physical appearance is not the most important quality she looks for in a partner.

While responding to a question about six-pack abs, the actress said intelligence and a good sense of humour are much more attractive than a sculpted physique.

“I honestly think a man’s mind, how funny he is, makes a man sexy,” she said.

Electra also dismissed the idea that a toned body is essential, noting that many attractive women happily date men with what she described as a “dad bod.”

“I’ve dated a Buddha belly before, once or twice,” she added. “If you’re into them, you’re into them.”
