Julia Garner and Mark Foster separate after more than six years of marriage

Julia Garner and her husband, Foster the People frontman Mark Foster, have separated after more than six years of marriage.

According to a source who confirmed the news to People. Representatives for both Garner, 32, and Foster, 42, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The couple married in December 2019 in an intimate ceremony at a New York City courthouse, after first meeting years earlier at the Sundance Film Festival.

Although they initially crossed paths in 2013, their relationship didn't begin until they reconnected on Instagram.

Garner previously shared that she noticed Foster interacting with her posts before following him back, eventually leading to a direct message that sparked their romance.

Earlier in 2019, Foster made a heartfelt gesture during a trip to Montana. According to Garner, he read a poem he had written before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him.

Later that year, the pair chose to exchange vows at New York City's City Hall rather than host a lavish ceremony, a decision inspired by Garner's parents, who had also married there decades earlier.

The wedding featured a deeply personal surprise from Foster, who wrote, produced and performed an original song titled Lovers in a Stream for their first dance.

Garner later described the performance as the most beautiful gift she had ever received, saying the moment felt magical.

Throughout their marriage, Garner and Foster often celebrated milestones publicly.

In 2021, Foster marked their second wedding anniversary by sharing a wedding photo alongside a poem dedicated to his wife.

Garner followed with her own wedding tribute the following year to celebrate their third anniversary. Both social media posts have since been deleted, while Foster has also removed Instagram posts dating from before 2024.

Foster was also a constant presence during many of Garner's career milestones.

After winning her first Emmy Award for Ozark in 2019, the actress thanked him during her acceptance speech, calling him "the love of my life."

She also acknowledged her husband while accepting the Golden Globe for Ozark in 2023, expressing her love and gratitude from the stage.

Neither Garner nor Foster has publicly addressed the reported separation.
