Chloe Fineman announces departure from 'Saturday Night Live' after seven seasons

Chloe Fineman is saying goodbye to Saturday Night Live after seven years on the iconic sketch comedy series.

The 37-year-old comedian and actress announced her departure in an emotional Instagram post, confirming that she is leaving the NBC show after what she described as "seven wonderful seasons."

During her time on SNL, Fineman became known for her celebrity impressions, portraying stars including Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, JoJo Siwa, Meryl Streep and Timothée Chalamet.

Reflecting on her journey, Fineman called being part of the long-running series "the greatest privilege" of her career.

“After 7 wonderful seasons at SNL I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,” she wrote.

“It’s cliché to say this but working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it.”

She also thanked Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, saying she would always be grateful for the opportunity to join the cast.

Fineman paid tribute to the show's cast and crew, recalling the fast-paced environment behind the scenes, from creating elaborate costumes to completing visual effects and rewriting sketches just hours before airtime.

The actress admitted that working on the show came with emotional highs and lows, revealing she often became deeply invested in every sketch.

She joked that she had "sobbed uncontrollably" when ideas failed to make the final broadcast and even stormed into producers' offices convinced they had made "the biggest mistake" by cutting her work.

Looking back now, however, she said those disappointments seem humorous in hindsight, referencing one rejected sketch titled "lipstick for thicc dogs."

Despite the challenges, Fineman said the passion everyone brought to the show made every success and setback feel significant in the moment.

While calling the decision difficult, she said it ultimately felt like the right time to move on.

“It’s really hard to leave SNL but it does feel like the right time,” she wrote. “I’m going to miss it a lot.”

She added that the people behind the show had become her family and that Saturday Night Live would always feel like home.

Among those celebrating her next chapter was actress Natalie Portman, who commented on the post: “You’ve made us all laugh so hard for so many years! Excited for what you’ll do next.”
