Adam Sandler's officiant role catches Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce guests off guard
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding guests initially thought Adam Sandler was joking when he walked out to officiate the couple's star-studded ceremony before realising he was there to lead the vows.
American Century Investments CEO Jonathan Thomas, who attended the July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, recalled the moment during an appearance on the Compound and Friends podcast.
"He came down, everybody laughed and thought it was a joke at first," Thomas said.
Adam Sandler blended humour with heartfelt advice
According to Thomas, Sandler spent between 20 and 30 minutes officiating the ceremony, balancing humour with sincere remarks.
One moment that stood out came when he referenced the traditional wedding vow, "for richer or poorer."
Instead, Sandler reportedly quipped that the newlyweds would not have to worry about that, a nod to Swift's reported billionaire status and Kelce's successful NFL career.
He also encouraged the couple to "kiss each other every day" in the morning, after dinner and before bed.

Thomas said Kelce delivered his personal vows first, speaking for around 30 minutes.
He described the Kansas City Chiefs tight end as "unbelievably vulnerable," admitting the heartfelt speech brought him to tears alongside several NFL figures in attendance.
Taylor then followed with vows of her own, which Thomas described as "poetic" and equally emotional.
Other guests also praised emotional ceremony
Thomas was not the only guest moved by the ceremony.
San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk previously said he became emotional listening to the couple exchange vows.
"Their vows were so good, and it was hard not to," he said.
His wife, fashion designer Kristin Juszczyk, admitted she cries at every wedding but also described Swift and Kelce's celebration as "legendary" and "the best night ever."
The wedding reportedly welcomed a host of celebrity guests, including Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Hugh Grant, Bradley Cooper, Tom Brady, Sabrina Carpenter and Lena Dunham.
