Jennifer Morrison reveals why acting left her feeling lost
'The House and Once Upon a Time star admitted she struggled to balance career success with her own well-being
Jennifer Morrison has opened up about the personal toll of spending decades in front of the camera, revealing there was a point when she felt she was losing touch with her own identity.
Speaking on the Question Everything podcast, the actress and director reflected on her years working on hit television series including House, How I Met Your Mother and Once Upon a Time, admitting that her dedication to acting left little room for a life of her own.
Morrison said she reached a stage where she felt she was "starting to dissolve as a person" because she was fully committed to her career while neglecting her personal relationships and sense of self.
The actress explained that she rarely saw friends or family and spent so much time portraying fictional characters that she struggled to answer simple questions about her own interests, including her favourite music.
According to Morrison, the experience eventually pushed her toward directing, which allowed her to express her creativity without losing herself in a role.
She said directing gave her the opportunity to create while remaining true to who she is, describing the shift as both motivating and life-changing.
Morrison added that realising she needed a healthier balance between her career and personal life was essential for her well-being, saying the changes she made transformed the way she viewed both her work and herself.
