Elon Musk claims Grok AI will make full-length 'The Odyssey' film this year

Elon Musk has claimed his artificial intelligence platform, Grok, will produce a feature-length adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey before the end of the year, calling it a version that will remain faithful to the original work.

The billionaire made the announcement after sharing a three-minute AI-generated scene created with Grok Imagine, an image and video generation tool developed by xAI. The clip features Odysseus speaking with the nymph Calypso as he longs to return home following the Trojan War.

Sharing the video on social media, Musk wrote that Grok Imagine would create a full-length movie that is “historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.”

His comments come as Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey continues its successful run at the global box office.

The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, while Lupita Nyong'o portrays both Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra.

Earlier this year, Musk faced criticism after amplifying racist remarks targeting Nyong'o's casting in the film.

The backlash prompted responses from several public figures, including Whoopi Goldberg, who defended the Oscar-winning actress and questioned Musk's criticism.

Actor Alec Baldwin also voiced his support for Nyong'o, calling her “the most beautiful woman in the world” in a social media post.

Nolan's adaptation has become one of the year's biggest box office successes, earning over $264 million worldwide during its opening weekend and marking the director's largest opening to date.

Musk's latest comments also reflect his growing push to position Grok as a major player in generative AI.

Alongside leading Tesla, SpaceX and X, he has repeatedly argued that artificial intelligence will reshape creative industries, with his latest claim suggesting classic literature could soon be transformed into AI-generated feature films.
