Angelina Jolie hopes family heals as Vivienne drops Pitt surname

Angelina Jolie is reportedly hoping her family can move forward after her youngest daughter, Vivienne, became the fourth of her children with Brad Pitt to seek the removal of "Pitt" from her legal surname.

According to court documents obtained by People, the 18-year-old filed a petition on July 21 to legally change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, listing the reason for the request as "personal."

Vivienne follows three siblings

Vivienne joins her siblings Shiloh, Zahara and Maddox, who have also sought to remove "Pitt" from their surnames in recent years.

Shiloh's request was approved in 2024, while Zahara's and Maddox's petitions remain pending. Court documents show Vivienne's hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 2.

Jolie 'just wants everyone to heal'

A source close to Jolie told People that the actress is not focused on continuing conflict despite the family's ongoing legal and personal challenges.

"Angie hasn't been fighting and isn't angry. She just wants everyone to heal," the source said.

The insider added that Jolie's children have chosen not to publicly discuss their reasons, saying their silence reflects "their decency."

Pitt camp previously reacted

After Shiloh legally dropped "Pitt" from her surname last year, a source close to Brad Pitt said it was "sad" to see what they described as the children's growing distance from their father.

Neither Jolie nor Pitt has publicly commented on Vivienne's latest petition.

Family has remained in the spotlight

Jolie and Pitt share six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. Since the couple's split, several of their children have gradually stopped using the Pitt surname publicly, with Vivienne now becoming the latest to pursue a legal name change.
