Deadly shooting at Seattle food festival leaves three dead, multiple hurt

Three people were killed and several others were injured after gunfire erupted at Seattle's annual Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle on Sunday evening, authorities said.

According to Seattle police, officers responded to reports of shots fired at around 6:01 p.m. local time during the popular festival.

When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began CPR and first aid before emergency crews transported the injured to nearby hospitals.

Police confirmed that a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman died in the shooting.

Four victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center, while another injured person later arrived at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Officials also confirmed that a 2-year-old boy was among those injured and is in stable condition.

Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis described the shooting as a tragedy, noting that the annual event has remained largely trouble-free in recent years.

"This is a tragedy. I'm really sorry this happened," Davis said during a press briefing, praising officers who responded quickly and helped prevent additional casualties.

Investigators believe two individuals exchanged gunfire during the incident.

Police arrested one suspected shooter at the scene, while a second suspect fled and remains under investigation. Authorities have recovered two firearms.

Despite the ongoing search for the second suspect, police said there is no continuing threat to the public.

The Seattle Police Department has urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues.

Emergency responders and investigators remained at the scene late Sunday as officials worked to determine what led to the deadly exchange of gunfire.
