Keke Palmer asks fans to 'let it cook' amid Sean Evans romance
The singer openes up about dating Sean Evans, saying fans wrote their love story before they had the chance
Keke Palmer has admitted she was caught off guard by the intense public interest surrounding her budding romance with Hot Ones host Sean Evans, saying fans moved far too quickly.
The 32-year-old actress opened up about her relationship during an appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, describing her connection with Evans as authentic and effortless.
"Our chemistry is genuine. I couldn't force that if I tried," Palmer said. "We always felt that chemistry from the first time we did the show."
While Palmer is enjoying the relationship, she confessed she was surprised by how quickly fans began speculating about their future.
"I was gagged that everybody was ready to marry me off," she said. "I was like, 'Guys, let it cook!' They married your girl off in two seconds."
Palmer and Evans, 40, first sparked dating rumours in mid-June after they were seen having dinner together. Looking back, the actress said the public narrative developed much faster than their own relationship.
"That was crazy," she said. "For us, it's life. Essentially we met at work and we had chemistry... it's like work husband/work wife and you just had that chemistry with people. Then we hang out, and for people to then... they write the story before you can live it."
The actress also reflected on how social media and celebrity culture have blurred the boundaries between public and private life.
"I see somebody at the airport. I'm going through TSA, they're like, 'So girl, what's going on with you?' I'm like, 'Girl, you gotta let time pass! This just happened yesterday.' It's this thing that's so parasocial, the world we live in now," she said.
Palmer also spoke about her hopes for her three-year-old son, Leo, whom she shares with former partner Darius Jackson.
Speaking to Extra, the actress said she wants her son to embrace change and pursue happiness without fear.
"I want him to know that happiness is his to take, but we got to take it," Palmer said, adding that she hopes Leo will never be afraid to evolve and create his own path in life.
