The Weeknd shared his desire to co-produce music with the legendary pop icon Madonna after releasing their collab song Popular on Friday.

In an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, The Weeknd revealed that he wants to make an album with the Like a Virgin songstress.

The Blinding Lights singer, whose actual name is Abel Tesfaye said, "I mean, the thing is, I've always wanted to work with her. I've always wanted to write and produce a Madonna album... well, co-produce with her, of course ... because she's a visionary and she has such a singular vision."

The Weeknd, 33, further added, "I just want to come into her world and create a classic Madonna album. That was always my dream. So this can be... Hopefully this is the appetizer for that."

Popular is the second single from the controversial HBO series The Idol, co-created by The Weeknd, Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim.

The Idol is will be streaming on the platform on June 4, 2023. The Weeknd stars in the coming-of-age drama opposite Lily-Rose Depp.

It also includes Jennie Kim, who is a member of popular South Korean band BLACKPINK.
