Mark Zuckerberg owned Meta challenges AI Giants with Llama 2
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced that Llama 2 will be available for both research and commercial use
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has entered the arena of artificial intelligence with its newly developed AI system called Llama 2, posing a challenge to existing models like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard.
Meta plans to offer a free commercial version of Llama 2, providing startups and businesses with an accessible and cost-effective AI solution.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced that Llama 2 will be available for both research and commercial use.
The AI model will be distributed through Microsoft's Azure cloud service and will run on the Windows operating system, with Microsoft acting as Meta's preferred partner for this release.
While other tech giants have been reluctant to share their AI data and code, Meta has embraced transparency.
However, the research paper introducing Llama 2 provides less detail about its training data sources compared to Meta's previous work.
Nevertheless, Zuckerberg believes that open-sourcing Llama 2 will foster innovation and enhance safety and security.
Llama 2 will be accessible for direct download or through Microsoft's Azure cloud platform, as well as through Amazon Web Services and AI startup Hugging Face.
This collaboration with Microsoft is noteworthy, as Microsoft is also a major funder and partner of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT.
