Will Smith confesses he ‘fails to outdo’ Tom Cruise and his commitment to film promotions

Will Smith, an Oscar-winning Hollywood actor, recently revealed that he drew inspirations from globally famed movie actor Tom Cruise for movie promotion strategies earlier in his career.

However, Smith admitted that failed to outdone the Mission Impossible star’s unwavering commitment to movie promotions.

The Emancipation star appeared on the third season finale of Hart to Heart and told the host Kevin Hart that he used to study the Top Gun actor and his tactics when it came to promoting his movies.

In his candid confession, Smith named Tom Cruise as the blueprint for his promotional strategies and described how he closely observed and studied every move made by the Jerry Maguire star.

Smith admitted, “Tom was the blueprint to me for promotions. He took it most seriously. And I watched him. I studied everything that he did. And I was trying to outdo Tom Cruise in terms of promotion.”

The host, Kevin Hart also chimed in, describing Tom Cruise as "so [expletive] competitive" and playfully mentioned his tendency to be a "close talker."

Smith went on to praise Cruise's determination to ensure others understand his words. And said, “He just wants you to understand what he said.”

The Pursuit of Happyness actor also highlighting the Vanilla Sky star’s influence on his approach to promote his films.

While Tom Cruise and Will Smith have never worked together on any project, Smith acknowledged Cruise's competitiveness and unwavering dedication as his remarkable success in Hollywood.

Will Smith remarks on Tom Cruise in 2020:

Back in 2020, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Will Smith, who came to promote his movie, Bad Boys for Life, stated, “I started [filming the movie], and I told myself that I was doing all of my stunts. Tom Cruise was just hanging on the side of an airplane at 50. I was like, ‘Man, I am better than Tom Cruise.’”

“I did like two stunts, and I was like ‘I’m not better than Tom Cruise,’” he had added.
