Oprah Winfrey has reflected on being directed by Steven Spielberg in her debut film role in The Color Purple, released in 1985.

During her recent appearance at The Drew Barrymore show, Winfrey reminisced getting called out by Spielberg, when she looked into the camera during the shoot of a scene.

The Butler producer told, “I had never done a film, been in a film, knew anything about filming but wanted to be in The Color Purple more than anything in my life.”

Winfrey also admitted that she made the mistake of gazing directly into the camera on her first day of filming with costar Whoopi Goldberg.

The 69-year-old host said, “Steven yells, ‘Cut! Cut! Cut! What are you doing? I said, ‘Uh. I was just doing my lines.’ He said, ‘What are you doing looking in the camera?’ I go, ‘I’m not supposed to look in the camera?’ He goes, ‘No! Ms. Celie’s over here!'”

She continued, “I didn’t know. I didn’t know. I had never been on a movie set."

While mentioning of reuniting with Spielberg, the Before Women Had Wings producer said, “So full circle look at God looking at me! I think it’s so incredible.”

Oprah Winfrey gears up for her birthday:

Earlier this month, during an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Winfrey expressed her feeling as she gears up to mark her 70th birthday in January, saying, "I will never be done until my last breath is done, and whenever that happens it will be a peaceful breath."

"Gratitude really is my religion," Winfrey added.
