Ali Wong expresses gratitude to her father in 2023 Emmy Awards acceptance speech

Ali Wong filled with gratitude for her parents, especially her 'hilarious' father  after winning the 2023 Emmy Award for Best Lead Actress  in Netflix series Beef.

As reported by Variety, the Always Be My Maybe  actress walked up to the stage to receive her second award on just a day after bagging the 2024 Critics Choice Award on Sunday.

In her acceptance speech, the American Housewife alum showed gratitude towards her father saying, "I wouldn't be standing here without my parents, my amazing parents, my mother and my father who I so wish was alive to share this moment with me.”

Wong continued, "My hilarious father who loved me unconditionally and taught me the value of failure."

Wong also thanked her daughters Mari and Nikki, noting, "You are my everything and thank you for inspiring me. This is for you."

This award marks Wong's first Emmy win after being nominated for four times as she was previously nominated for writing her Netflix comedy special Ali Wong: Don Wong and for voice over in Tuca and Bertie.

In addition to starring in,  Wong also served as an executive producer on Beef, which was nominated for outstanding limited or anthology series.

Wong   kicked off the year 2024, with consecutive wins as the 41-year-old actress won the 2023 Primetime Emmy award for Beef, after bagging the honour   Critics Choice Award for Beef, on Sunday.

The moment Wong, was called upon stage to receive the Best Actress honours in a limited series, she and her boyfriend Bill Hader got up from their seats to embrace each other and  kiss.

Prior to these two consecutive wins, Ali Wong took home the 2023 Golden Globe award for her best performance in the same Netflix series, last Sunday.

During her acceptance speech, Wong thanked her ex-husband Justin Hakuta, with home she parted ways in December, 2023, over "irreconcilable differences."

Wong co-parents their two daughters, Mari, 8, and Nikki, 6 with Justin.
