Many celebrity couples have found love on film and television sets.

Sometimes the on-screen chemistry we get to witness tends to spill into real life and turn into off-screen romances. Actors spend a lot of time in close proximity while filming like during rehearsals, sharing emotional scenes, leads to them becoming more than just co-stars.

These unexpected on-set romances have led to some of Hollywood’s most talked about relationships.

Some of these romances happened to have lasted years and still seem to be going strong while some fizzle out.

Here are some of the unforgettable couples that began their relationship while on-set:

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes

Ryan met Eva on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines and began dating in 2013. Despite being in a relationship for so long, the two have managed to keep their romance out of the public eye.

Since then, the lovebirds have welcomed two daughters, 10-year-old Esmeralda and eight year old Amada.

Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan

Tanner and Mary starred in Cobra Kai together. Their characters Sam LaRusso and Robbie Keene had a brief romance on screen but to everyone’s surprise the two had been dating off-screen.

At the series finale earlier this year, the two made headlines as they publicly debuted not only their real life relationship but their engagement as well, after years of keeping it private.

Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike

Sparks flew between Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike on the set of Euphoria, leading them to date for a little more than a year before calling it quits in July 2023.

During her appearance on Call Her Daddy, the 26-year-old actress opened up about the break up saying, "It’s one of the cleaner breakups I’ve had. We both recognized that this is not working, and we can’t do this."

Continuing, "We got to go our own separate ways. It was so, so hard because we really loved each other. He’s a really special person and I love his soul and everything."

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley

The Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley also dated in real life after meeting on set of the teen romance drama. Their romance started in 2007 and lasted for three years before the two parted ways in 2010.

At the same time, their characters Serena van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey, were also romantically linked on-screen.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield

Many of us are aware about the iconic couple that came out of The Amazing Spider-Man film series.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield fell head over heels for each other while filming for the superhero movie. They began dating in 2011 and dated for four years before calling it quits in 2015.

Even after the split, the two didn’t have any bad blood between them and stayed on good terms and still continue to support each other.

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse who played the on-screen couple Betty and Jughead, in the crime, romance and mystery show Riverdale, also dated in real life.

The two had gone public with their romance in May 2018. However, they dated on and off before finally calling it quits in March 2020.

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron

Everyone’s favourite Disney couple Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron sent shockwaves after going public with their romance.

The former couple began dating in 2005 while filming for the classic Disney movie High School Musical. However, their relationship didn’t last long and they went their separate ways in 2010, after the release of their third movie from the franchise.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder

Nina and Ian first connected while filming for the fan favourite series The Vampire Diaries, where they played Elena and Damon who happened to be each other's love interests on the show.

Their striking chemistry spilled into real life as the two fell for each other and began dating in 2010. They dated for three years and broke up in 2013, but the two have remained on good terms.
