Stephen Colbert thanks wife for saving his life after major health tragedy
Stephen Colbert admitted that he owes his life to wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert

Stephen Colbert praised his wife, Evelyn McGee-Colbert for saving his life after a major health tragedy, at the red carpet of the 75th annual Emmy Awards, held on January 15, 2024.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stephen admitted that he owes his life to Evelyn and shared details about facing a burst appendix, which occurred in November, 2023.
The Spin City actor, who had to cancel several shows due to the health scare, expressed his gratitude to Evelyn, saying, "Where’s my wife? She’s somewhere around here. She saved my life."
He said, "First, appendix, and I was in a lot of pain. It was the last show before we took a break. And I went. 'I'll just go do the show anyway."

“I'm sure we'll be fine.' By the time the show's over I had a 102.5 fever. I was in shock. I had blood poisoning," Stephen added.
The 59-year-old actor then humorously cautioned viewers about the situation, saying, "Don’t do it, kids. Don’t broadcast with blood poisoning."
Stephen also mentioned that Evelyn recognized he needed assistance just by hearing his voice after he called her from the car.
The Dana Carvey Show host further said, "She heard me, because by the time I was calling her on the drive home, my teeth were chattering and my whole body was in spasms.”
In December, Stephen, who has three children with Evelyn, initially shared details about his ruptured appendix when he returned to The Late Show.
