Martin Short denied rumors about dating 'Only Murders in the Building' co-star Meryl Streep
Martin Short set the record straight regarding rumours suggesting that he is dating his Only Murders in the Building co-star Meryl Streep.
In his appearance at the recent episode of Club Random with Bill Maher, on Sunday, Martin denied any romantic involvement with 74-year-old Streep.
During his conversation with the show host Bill Maher, the Clifford star said, "We’re not a couple, we are just very close friends," after he joked that they were a “power couple."
Short continued, "Well, you should because there’s nothing more powerful in Hollywood than a power couple, It worked for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, it worked for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie."
This response came shortly after the speculation about Short and Streep dating started, when fans thought they seemed close at the Golden Globes this month.
However, Short's representative told PEOPLE that the two are "just very good friends, nothing more."

Short was married to actress Nancy Dolman from 1980 until she passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010.
During a 2019 interview with AARP: The Magazine, the Innerspace star said, "Our marriage was a triumph, so it's tough, she died in 2010, but I still communicate with her all the time, It's, hey nan, you know, How would she react to this decision or that, especially regarding our three kids."
"I believe that when people die, they zoom into the people that love them, he idea that it just ends, and don't speak of them that's wrong to me, she's still here," he added.
Meanwhile, in October, the outlet verified that Streep had separated from her husband, Don Gummer after 45 years of marriage.
According to the representative, "Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart."
