Nicole Kidman reflects on early acting days with throwback video ahead of AFI honor

Nicole Kidman is set to receive the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award on April 27

Nicole Kidman, who is gearing up to receive the prestigious AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane by sharing a throwback video of her first acting role at the tender age of 14.

Taking to her Instagram, the Wide Shut Eyes star dropped the nostalgic video of her first role at 14, to celebrate the receiving of the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award on April 27.

The video showcased the teenaged Kidman in her first role as Helen in Bush Christmas in 1983.

In a caption she wrote, “This 14-year-old girl could have never predicted all the talented people she would get to work with and the many different characters she would get to play. So excited to celebrate with so many friends and peers on Saturday with the @AmericanFilmInstitute xx.”

Kidman's social media update comes after the Institute's announcement in 2023 regarding her receipt of the Life Achievement Award.

She holds the honour of being the first Australian actor to be honoured with the AFI Life Achievement Award.

“Both a powerhouse performer, spellbinding movie star and accomplished producer, Nicole Kidman has captured the imaginations of audiences throughout her prolific career, delivering complex and versatile performances onscreen,” read the AFI press release.
