Gabriel Macht had planned not to reprise his iconic role as Harvey Specter for the sequel of the hit series Suits but ended up changing his mind.

After serving a great performance throughout the nine seasons on the fan favourite legal drama show, the 53-year-old actor was finally ready to put his character to rest. 

However, he is now returning as his beloved character for the sequel, Suits LA, crediting the fans to be the main reason, during his conversation with Entertainment Weekly.  

The Because I Said So actor also went on to reveal that, when the creator Aaron Korsh  first reached out to him and pitched his return on the sequel, he didn’t accept the offer right away, explaining that he didn’t want to come back to acting because he wanted to prioritise his family.

What changed his mind was a strategic business decision on his part  because the actor who previously didn’t want to carry on Harvey’s legacy as it would restrict him to that one role, Gabriel also didn’t want to be auditioning for shows in his 50s and 60s. 

Talking about his decision to initially not return to the series, he said, "I finished up on Suits and felt like we spent enough time with Harvey: nine years, 134 episodes."

"We really created such a well-rounded character, and the ensemble was terrific."

The S.W.A.T.: Firefight actor shared went on to appreciate the opportunity to bring the role to life and saying, "When I say goodbye, I was really burying the character in many, many ways, metaphorically for myself."

Gabriel also expressed his contentment with popular shows being reprised in the form of movies revealing that he wasn’t interested in a reunion or continuing the show further because he felt they ended on a good note, thus having no need for a revival.
