iOS 19 to bring biggest iPhone design overhaul since 2013
Apple is gearing up for a major overhaul of its iOS operating system, with the iOS 19 release, which is set to be "one of the most dramatic software overhauls" in the company's history.
According to Bloomberg's report, the iOS 19 update codenamed “Luck” will bring significant design changes to the iPhone, marking the biggest revamp since iOS 7, which was released a decade earlier, in 2013.
The report mentioned that the changes will go beyond a new design language and aesthetic tweaks, aiming to make Apple's platforms more consistent.
Moreover, similar updates are planned for the Mac and iPad, with macOS 16 codenamed “Cheer” set to be the most significant upgrade to the Mac since macOS "Big Sur" was released in 2020.
The macOS 16 update will bring a new design style to icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons, based on visionOS.
While more details on design changes and new features are yet to be revealed, a previous rumour suggested that iOS 19 will significantly overhaul the iPhone’s Camera app.
It should be noted that Apple is expected to announce iOS 19 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, followed by several months of beta testing.
However, the iOS 19 update will be released to the public in September alongside the iPhone 17 series.
