Kate Middleton accompanies Prince William amid momentous family occasion
Kate Middleton chose to accompany husband Prince William at sports gathering despite her family celebrating major event

Kate Middleton was all smiles as she took her seat next to Prince William at England’s rugby match against Wales for the Six Nations Rugby fixture, even if it meant that she missed an important family celebration.
The couple with Welsh titles attended the game at Principality Stadium in the Welsh city of Cardiff. As Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, celebrated her daughter’s fourth birthday back home.
Pippa’s daughter, Grace Matthews, turned four; while her royal aunt had to miss the occasion to attend the game.
It is pertinent to mention that the game held considerable significance for both husband and wife.
For the future king, watching Wales play meant a great deal as he is Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
While the Princess of Wales holds a similar patronage with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in England.
Therefore, the famously competitive royal duo found themselves on opposing sides even as they sat right next to each other.
William rooted for Wales, while his wife, Princess Kate chose to support England.
Back in 2023, after the couple attended the same fixture, William had jokingly remarked on what he said would prove to be a “tense journey home” with Princess Kate.
As fate would have it, this year, the Princess left the game with victorious satisfaction as England beat Wales on Saturday's fixture.
England emerged winners over Wales with a 68-14 score on the night.
Nonetheless, Kate had also supported her husband even before the match began.
William and Kate went to meet injured players before the game on March 15, Saturday, as the players are supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, under William’s patronage.
