Lady Gaga earns new record as latest album opens big
Lady Gaga has new record under her belt as latest album becomes week’s big opener

Lady Gaga released her seventh studio album, Mayhem, earlier this month; and it has already made its mark by achieving multiple records.
The album went to the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week.
With this honour, Gaga has also earned herself a new record; the album hit the biggest streaming debut for the first time in her career.
Music and entertainment data provider, Luminate, has reported on the album’s chart analytics.
With 219,000 units earned, Mayhem has become the first album by a female artist to secure the biggest opening week this year.
Gaga has previously launched five of her studio albums to the number one spot on the Billboard chart. These include titles like Born This Way, Chromatica, and Joanne.
Her movie’s soundtrack, A Star is Born, has also earned the coveted position in the past.
Physical sales of the albums comprised 136,000 units of the aforementioned 219,000. While vinyl merchandise earned 74,000 of the total units.
The pop star created 14 different physical media to be sold for the album. CDs and cassettes featuring the original album cover art were included among those.
The vinyl collection was limited-edition and provided Gaga with the best vinyl sales numbers of her career.
Lady Gaga previously performed a single called Abracadabra from the album during a Grammys commercial break, earlier this year. That single is the one to chart highest among the album.
