YouTube introduces new way to count views on YouTube Shorts
YouTube Shorts views will be counted whenever creator's video starts playing or replays, starting March 31

With the latest update, YouTube has introduced a new way to count views on YouTube Shorts, aiming to provide content creators with a more accurate understanding of their short-form content's performance.
This update comes in response to creator feedback, as they will get a more comprehensive understanding of how often their Shorts are seen.
Starting March 31, YouTube Shorts views will be counted whenever a creator's video starts playing or replays, rather than requiring a certain number of seconds to be viewed.
The new metric will enable creators to better showcase their reach, inform their content strategy, and present their work to potential brand partners.
With this change, YouTube Shorts will align its metrics with those of TikTok and Instagram Reels, which also track video starts and replays.
Moreover, creators will now be able to compare their short-form video performance across multiple platforms more easily.
However, for creators interested in the original Shorts metric, the video platform will continue to provide "engaged views" data in YouTube Analytics' Advanced Mode.
This metric tracks how many viewers choose to continue watching a Short. It is important to note that the updated view count metric will not impact creators' earnings or eligibility for the YouTube Partner Programme, which will remain based on engaged views.
