In a remarkable move, OpenAI has made its innovative Ghibli-style image generation feature available to all ChatGPT users, including those on the free tier.

Initially exclusive to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, and select subscription tiers, the feature now allows free users limited access, with a cap on daily image generations.

This move aims to enhance user experience while incorporating safeguards against deepfakes through metadata tagging.

However, Altman recently stated that the overwhelming demand for AI-generated images caused a delay in the rollout of this feature to free users.

To access this feature, users must be logged into their OpenAI accounts. The free tier currently allows for three image generations per day, with a cooldown period between consecutive requests to manage server load.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the expansion of the feature by sharing impressive statistics that revealed one million new users registered on ChatGPT within just one hour.

This surge in registrations is notable, especially when compared to the platform's previous record of one million users gained over five days during its launch in 2022.

The feature enables ChatGPT users to create illustrations inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's iconic films with just a text prompt.

Users can upload their images and request transformations into various artistic styles or make specific edits.
