Tyla drops bombshell about Coachella look that sparked Britney Spears comparison
Tyla drew comparisons to Britney Spears during latest Coachella performance

Tyla recently took the stage during Coachella festivities the past weekend and immediately became the center of attention thanks to her outfit choice.
During her Friday, April 18 set at the music festival, the 23-year-old performer donned a bright green cropped top paired with mini denim shorts which also featured accents of green cloth that was similar to the one in her top.
The look seized the attention of everyone who saw it, due to the striking similarities between her outfit and the one Britney Spears wore during her 2001 MTV VMAs performance.
Spears, 43, famously performed her 2001 hit I’m a Slave 4 U in the now-iconic ensemble while carrying a giant python around her shoulders.

However, the Jump hitmaker quickly shut down any comparisons with a quick reply on X (formerly known as Twitter) that read, "Love her, but I just thought the outfit was fly… no inspo."

Though the pop star kept it simple with her response, some users online found it a bit shady.
"Well this is disappointing to read. Yikes!" read one reply to her tweet.
While another said, "Maybe not you but SOMEONE was inspired!"
However, the hitmaker behind Water has shut down comparisons with other celebrities in the past as well.
"Honestly, when people bring up these references, most of the time there was never a reference. It’s getting boring now," she told Dazed during a 2024 interview.
Explaining that she is driven by the new and the fresh, she stated, “I like working with people who have new and fresh ideas. I want to start something new.”
As far as references go however, Tyla performed Aaliyah’s Rock the Boat at the Coachella music festival, along with her own memorable hits like Truth or Dare while also previewing a brand new song from her catalogue called Bliss.
