Lucius Malfoy actor 'Jason Isaacs' reveals shocking details about 'Harry Potter'
Jason Isaacs played 'Lucius Malfoy' in 'Harry Potter'

Jason Isaacs who’s best known for playing Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy’s dad in Harry Potter revealed his on-screen son’s shortcomings.
In the episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast aired on Monday, April 21, Isaacs shared, "My job wasn't being in a franchise. My job was trying to explain to the audience why Draco was such a little s*** at school."
"He came from a loveless home, and I came from a long, unbroken chain of loveless parenting," he continued.
"And to play that popinjay and that racist, it might be magical, but the parallels are pretty transparent: someone who doesn't think that Muggles should mix blood with wizards, and somebody trying to make Hogwarts great again," the actor explained while stepping into his character’s shoes.
The 61-year-old performer also stated that he’s "repulsed" when the Potter films are labeled with the word "franchise."
"As much as it was fantastical, I always take the acting incredibly seriously," he explained.
To support his statement, Isaacs gave an example of the scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I.
He said, "when [Ralph Fiennes] was around bullying me as Voldemort, humiliating me, and snapping my wand at my table, [it] felt like being castrated in front of my family."
Towards the end, Isaacs concluded by sharing the intensity of some scenes referring to them as "heartbreaking and humiliating."
To note, Jason Isaacs was also starred in the HBO hit series, The White Lotus.
