Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrate their eldest, Prince Archie’s sixth birthday today, May 6.

However, their fallout with the royal family, and specifically King Charles, may have dampened the happy occasion on both ends.

While former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared her belief that no matter the situation, “Harry and Meghan will make his birthday magical”, she was not too sure about them being able to fill the void left in the wake of Archie’s estrangement from his extended family in the UK.

Bond claimed that the King “always loved Harry – he called him ‘darling boy’. And I’m sure he still loves Harry and would love even more to be able to spend time with Archie and Lilibet.”

“Charles is a sentimental man and a doting grandfather to George, Charlotte and Louis. And I’m sure as his struggle with cancer continues, he thinks more about the great loss of not being able to spend time with Harry’s children,” she reported, referencing Prince William and Princess Kate’s children.

The once BBC employee also shared her hopes about the royal family honouring the young prince on his birthday “in some way”.

“It would be very nice if the King, and William and Catherine, marked young Archie’s sixth birthday in some way. After all, it’s not the poor little lad’s fault that all this has happened. So I hope that, either publicly or privately, they do at least send the little boy their good wishes,” she said.

Previously, Prince Harry lost a legal appeal in the UK which deemed his right to demand state security for his family redundant.

Following the loss, the Duke of Sussex told BBC in a bombshell interview that King Charles no longer speaks to him.

“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile,” he told BBC journalist Nada Tawfik.
