Miley Cyrus on why she disfavored the Dua Lipa collab on her album 'Plastic Hearts'
Miley Cyrus clears the air on why she meant no shade to Dua' in her latest record 'Something Beautiful'

Miley Cyrus didn’t feel her collaboration with Dua Lipa, Prisoner, was the right fit for her album Plastic Hearts.
Miley has revealed that the duet with Dua Lipa on her 2020 album Plastic Hearts wasn’t her idea — and why it didn’t feel ‘right’ either.
In her latest appearance on the Every Single Album podcast, Miley explained why the song wasn’t a fit for the album and stressed she meant no offense to the Levitating singer.
“It wasn’t my idea,” she admitted, referring to the decision to include Prisoner on the album. “No shade to Dua, but it just isn’t cohesive with the album.”
She even suggested Dua would’ve been better suited to her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation, hinting, “She would’ve been great on Wildcard or River.”
Speculations started switrling that Miley was throwing subtle digs at Dua in her latest record Something Beautiful, particularly with the lyric from Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved: “Speaks the perfect French / She can dance the night away / And still, she’ll never break a sweat.”
Fans were quick to link the line to Dua, who famously speaks French in a remix of Talk Talk with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan and the allusion to the singer's hit Dance the Night from the Barbie soundtrack.
But Miley insists there’s no bad blood. She didn’t call out Dua by name in the song, and during the podcast, she emphasized her respect for her fellow pop star.
