After making a joint appearance with Prince William at the Royal Cornwall Show, Duchess Sophie paid a visit to the Imperial War Museum's Unsilenced exhibition.

During the exhibition, on Sunday, June 08, the Duchess of Edinburgh issued a heartfelt and emotional statement as she opened up about the harsh reality faced by the victims of sexual violence in war zones.

She expressed heartbreak, saying, "the stories never get any easier and they never change."

"We have to help people to understand that the victims are not the ones who have the shame, they are not the ones whose lives should be destroyed," she stated.

"We have to do better," the hardworking royal expressed.

Prince Edward's wife’s attendance comes shortly before International Day to End Sexual Violence in Conflict on June 19, after her she spent time with the survivors and heard their stories first hand.

Sophie has also spent time in places such as Kosovo, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad where she met with rape survivors and their children.

Back in October 2024, she made history as the first Royal family member to visit Ukraine since the Russian invasion began.
