‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’ will be developed into a series by Apple TV+

Jennifer Aniston is set to star in the Apple TV+ series based on former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy’s memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died.
The streaming company has ordered a premiere season to be composed of 10 episodes, while they further released the official pitch for the planned series.
Describing the source material as “heartbreaking and hilarious”, the show is set to depict “Jennette McCurdy’s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother (Aniston).”
“The dramedy will center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid’s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as ‘a starlet’s mother’,” it was further stated.
The actress who rose to fame on the hit Nickelodeon show iCarly, McCurdy detailed the emotional abuse she faced at the hands of her mother while growing up in the public eye.
Her mother passed away in 2013, while the actress and writer released her New York Times best seller list topping memoir in 2022.
Upon its release, the book’s title garnered some controversy due to its blunt nature, however its author defended the choice during an interview with Good Morning America.
“I get that it’s attention-grabbing but it’s also something that I mean sincerely,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jennette McCurdy is set to star, produce, and run the upcoming show based on her memoir.
While the series marks Jennifer Aniston’s second collaboration with Apple TV+, following The Morning Show, which co-stars Reese Witherspoon and will release its fourth season in September.
