Duchess Sophie set to leave the UK without Prince Edward?

Duchess Sophie is preparing to spend three days in Bosnia and Herzegovina from July 10 to 12, marking 30 years since the tragic events that took place at Srebrenica.

Her three day solo trip will revolve around honouring the memory of Srebrenica Genocide, a harrowing chapter in Europe’s history.

On July 11, the 60-year-old Duchess of Edinburgh will be speaking at the official commemoration at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, where she will share a message on behalf of His Majesty The King.

Her visit serves as a meaningful tribute to the past and highlights Britain’s ongoing dedication in peace building in the region.

The Duchess’ upcoming trip will be her first to Bosnia and Herzegovina, nearly a decade after Princess Anne represented the Royal family at the 20th anniversary back in 2015.

Sophie will pay a tribute at the cemetery by placing a flower in memory of the victims, after which she will meet and engage with the mothers affected by the Srebrenica tragedy.

During her visit to Sarajevo's Old Town, on July 10, the British royal family member will speak with a local woman working in peace building to better understand and learn about the war’s lasting effect on women.

Meanwhile, Prince Edward has returned from Canada and taken on his part of Royal duties, welcoming 600 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award winners to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
