In a remarkable breakthrough, for the first time in 20 years, Audrey Crews wrote her name, not with her hands, but with her mind.

The breakthrough was made possible through Neuralink, the brain-computer interface company founded by Elon Musk.

Crews, one of Neuralink’s first human trial participants, shared the milestone moment on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of her name written across a digital screen.

She captioned the image, “I tried writing my name for the first time in 20 years. I’m working on it. Lol #Neuralink.”

Musk responded to the post, praising the success and the broader implications of the technology.

“She is controlling her computer just by thinking,” he wrote. “Most people don’t realise this is possible.”

His response quickly went viral, gaining millions of views and thousands of emotional reactions from users.

“This made me cry,” one person wrote. Another said, “This is the most exciting thing I’ve seen all year.”

For those uninitiated, founded in 2016, Neuralink aims to build brain-machine interfaces that enable individuals with paralysis, neurological conditions, or sensory disabilities to regain independence and digital connectivity.

The company’s mission includes restoring mobility, enabling communication, and even reversing vision loss.

In addition to its pilot implant, Neuralink is developing another device, “Blindsight,” which is intended to restore sight to the blind and potentially provide enhanced or "superhuman" vision.
