Fall is officially in full swing and the royal family has already broken out their best pieces to celebrate the season.

Plaid
A forever fall classic, plaid is always on the royal family’s radar — albeit, perfected this year by Kate Middleton in a grey Alessandra Rich dress, paired with suede pumps in a matching shade.

Green
While browns and reds make for some of fall’s most popular hues, muted greens are also among the season’s best offerings. Queen Camilla accompanied King Charles for an engagement near Balmoral early September, where she paired a well tailored sage green jacket and matching headpiece with a trendy red plaid skirt and earth toned pumps.

Dark tones
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as Prince William, ditched summer shades as they stepped out in their best dark coloured ensembles during different outings — Harry and Meghan in Santa Barbara, while William in London.

Considered a staple of the autumnal weather, corduroy is also a classic component of the royal family’s wardrobe, making its appearance this year when Duchess Sophie recently sported the fabric — as part of her jacket and her skirt, in contrasting shades — completing the look with a trendy pair of burgundy boots.

As soon as fall raises the chill in the air, hats come out — and Meghan Markle has put one of the season’s utterly essential accessories to good use as she posed for several portraits on Instagram, styled in a number of chic hats.
