The Buckingham Palace has announced that their majesties, King Charles and Queen Camilla will under take a state visit to the Holy See from 22nd to 23rd October, 2025, at the invitation of Pope Francis.

The visit is an event in the development of a long-standing friendship between the United Kingdom and the Vatican and the common tools of peace, humanitarian activities, and interfaith.

It will be the first State Visit made by The King to the Holy See since his accession to the throne. Their Majesties will visit Pope Francis during the two-day visit and hold an audience with the senior Vatican officials.


The talks could be concerned with international problems such as climate change, social justice and advancement of religious tolerance. The Royal Couple will visit major places in the Vatican City, as well as have a personal service in the St. Peter Basilica.

In continuity, the exchange of gifts will be done symbolically to represent the existing four hundred years of diplomatic relations between the UK and the Holy See. According to the officials, the visit was a chance to expand the relationship between the two states based on mutual respect and shared purpose.
