Prince Andrew reportedly done more damage to the monarchy than Oliver Cromwell

Prince Andrew is once again facing fierce criticism and this time, it’s being compared to one of the most turbulent eras in British history. 

Labour MP Graham Stringer didn’t mince words, claiming the Duke of York has done more harm to the monarchy than anyone “since the 17th century.”

“He’s achieved more for republicanism than anyone since Oliver Cromwell,” Stringer declared, likening Andrew’s conduct to the political chaos of the English Civil War.

The MP accused the royal of swinging a “metaphorical wrecking ball” at public faith in the institution, undoing decades of goodwill built by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“Her Majesty earned near-universal respect, even among republicans,” Stringer said, adding, “Andrew has almost completely undone that work.”

His biting comments come as parliamentarians debate potential formal action against the Duke, amid ongoing scrutiny of his financial affairs and links to Jeffrey Epstein.

Lawmakers are now reportedly considering summoning Prince Andrew for questioning over his residence at Royal Lodge, a lavish 30 bedroom estate he has occupied rent free for more than 20 years, a move that could intensify pressure on the embattled royal.
