King Charles aide makes reuniting Prince William and Harry his 'number one mission'
King Charles reportedly wants William to forgive Harry in what a royal expert calls a father's deepest wish
King Charles has reportedly tasked one of his most trusted aides with the mission of reconciling his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, amid growing concern within royal circles over the brothers' long-running estrangement.
A father's wish
In an opinion piece for Woman and Home, royal expert Emily Andrews has claimed that bringing peace between his sons is one of Charles's most heartfelt personal desires.
Andrews wrote that the King has reportedly asked William, the heir to the throne, to find it within himself to forgive his younger brother. "He wants what most fathers would want," she noted.
Theo Rycroft's "number one mission"
Andrews claims that Charles's deputy private secretary, Theo Rycroft, has made reuniting the two brothers his primary personal ambition.
A source cited in the piece described Rycroft as believing the situation has become "ridiculous" and said he is determined to resolve it.
Rycroft has previously worked alongside William on a number of high-profile international engagements, giving him an established relationship with the Prince of Wales.
Andrews wrote that if William and Harry were at least on texting terms, it would make it considerably easier for King Charles to spend time with the Duke of Sussex and his children, and potentially to attend the Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027.
Years of silence
The brothers are reportedly not on speaking terms and have not been for several years. William is said to have gone so far as to ban any mention of Harry and Meghan within his household following their public criticisms of the royal family.
"William reportedly banned any mention of Harry and Meghan, not wanting to get involved in their drama," Andrews said.
She further claimed: "I understand that Harry tried to privately reach out to his brother via text and WhatsApp, but never received any reply. He then stopped trying."
