A royal expert has described King Charles’s decision to remove Prince Andrew’s royal title as “brutal” but this decision is reflective of “the modern media age.”

Speaking on GB News, Nigel Farage compared the King’s move to the Royal Family’s handling of past scandals, drawing a striking historical parallel.

“King Edward the Eighth betrayed the country, broke his Coronation oath, walked away despite all the pledges he'd made in the abbey,” Farage said.

He further added, “Yet they made him the Duke of Windsor. He became the governor of the Bahamas.”

In contrast, Farage noted that King Charles has taken a far harsher approach with his brother.

“He wasn't necessarily welcomed back, but this is much more brutal,” he said, adding, I guess this is the modern media and social media age, isn't it?"

Buckingham Palace’s announcement that Prince Andrew will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor marks a historic and dramatic shift, one that Farage believes shows just how much the pressures of media and public opinion now shape royal decisions.
