Elon Musk’s new tweet about NYC mayoral elections has everyone talking
Elon Musk has stirred controversy online by calling the NYC mayoral ballot a 'scam'
Elon Musk has once again stirred controversy online by calling the New York City mayoral ballot a “scam.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk wrote, “The New York City ballot form is a scam! No ID is required. Other mayoral candidates appear twice. Cuomo’s name is last in the bottom right.”
The tech billionaire claimed the ballot design was unfair and implied it was rigged against Cuomo, who is running as an independent after losing the Democratic nomination to Zohran Mamdani in June.
Musk later reposted a tweet showing the ballot and mocked the process, writing, “Given that he’s on the ballot twice, maybe he can win twice too.”
His comments quickly went viral, with critics accusing him of spreading misinformation about how New York’s voting system works.
Journalist Isaac Saul and several others fact-checked Musk, clarifying that his claims were misleading and that the ballot layout followed state guidelines.
However, this isn’t the first time. Earlier, the Tesla CEO also faced backlash for deliberately misspelling Mamdani, the Indian-origin candidate’s name, in another post.
It is worth mentioning that the Tesla CEO is backing former governor Andrew Cuomo, urging voters to support Cuomo over rival candidate Curtis Sliwa.
