Queen Camilla hosts 2025 Booker Prize at Clarence House
Queen Camilla hosted the 2025 Booker Prize at Clarence House, her royal residence, where a noteworthy reception awaited “this year’s shortlisted authors, judges and supporters”.
Marking the ceremony on Instagram, the royal family’s official page shared, “The Queen hosted a reception at Clarence House for this year’s shortlisted authors, judges and supporters of the prize. Congratulations to 2025 winner, David Szalay.”
The judging panel, “chaired by 1993 Booker Prize winner Roddy Doyle”, also included Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀, Kiley Reid, Chris Power, and Sarah Jessica Parker — who shared a significant exchange with the Queen.
During the festivities, Camilla appreciated the American actress by telling her that serving as a judge for the literary gathering is “one of your many hats”.
Accepting the praise, Jessica Parker replied, “And the one I’m most proud of.”
While discussing the event, the And Just Like That... actress added, “It was thrilling, especially to be among this group, who are all extraordinary, smart and wise. We had such riches to discuss, and we are surrounded by such wonderful, exciting authors.”
Notably, the Booker Prize “is the leading literary award in the English-speaking world and has celebrated world-class talent for over 55 years,” as reported in the royal family’s Instagram caption.
Whereas Queen Camilla is well known for her literary passion and various associations in the field. At this year’s reception, she handed out the artistic honour to Hungarian-British author David Szalay for his novel, Flesh.
