Akon gets into legal trouble in Georgia
Grammy-nominated hip-hop star faces major legal blow
Akon recently got into legal trouble in Georgia after the police arrested the Grammy-nominated hip-hop star over suspended license.
According to PEOPLE, the Smack That hitmaker was arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office on November 6 on an out-of-county warrant from the Roswell police department.
The 52-year-old singer, whose real name is Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, was booked at 9:34 a.m. and later released at 3:30 p.m.
However, as per a separate arrest report, the Dangerous crooner was transferred to a different facility and rebooked on November 7 at 12:00 a.m. again.
Additionally, his representatives also confirmed to the publication that he was released shortly after due to "manpower issues in the city."
The warrant dates back to September 10, when a police officer noticed his Tesla Cybertruck was stranded with a dead battery, which was later confirmed to be the hip hop mogul.
The Bananza singer's arrest comes nearly two months after his wife of almost 29 years filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
Moreover, in the filing, she requested joint legal custody of a 17-year-old daughter, Journey, and had complete physical custody while Akon gets a visitation.
