Meta is laying out new expectations for employees as the company expands hybrid work and accelerates its artificial intelligence (AI) efforts.

According to an internal memo reported by Business Insider, staff were told that “AI-driven impact” will become a formal evaluation metric starting in 2026.

The Mark Zuckerberg-owned company wants workers to show how they can use AI tools to improve productivity, automate tasks, and support internal development.

For 2025, the AI requirement will not officially affect performance reviews. However, employees are being encouraged to highlight any achievements made through AI in their self-assessments.

A spokesperson said the shift reflects Meta’s wider strategy to integrate AI into everyday work processes.

The move follows a broader trend across the tech industry. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet are also pushing employees to rely more heavily on AI as competition intensifies.

Leaders at these firms have described AI adoption as essential for staying ahead.

Meta’s focus on AI comes shortly after the company reported strong third-quarter results, with revenue rising 26% year-over-year.

As the race to build and deploy advanced AI systems accelerates, Meta is signalling that future success will depend heavily on how effectively employees use these tools.
