Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos is facing fresh allegations of copying Elon Musk’s playbook after unveiling his new artificial intelligence (AI) venture.

The drama reignited after Bezos returned to the CEO role and launched Project Prometheus, an ambitious “Physical AI” startup aiming to teach models through real-world experimentation rather than text alone.

While the concept earned attention on its own, insiders have claimed that the timing and direction echo the xAI CEO’s long-running pitch that the future of technology lies in robotics and AI-driven physical systems.

The rumours only grew louder when it emerged that the new venture had already hired dozens of researchers from leading AI labs and secured a massive $6.2 billion in initial funding.

Bezos’ move signals a major shift in his post-Amazon career, especially following his high-profile wedding in Venice and renewed interest in Blue Origin.

However, some observers have argued that each pivot still seems closely aligned with paths Musk has walked before, from space ambitions to AI evangelism.

Whether the overlap is coincidence or competition, one thing is clear: the Musk-Bezos rivalry isn’t slowing down, and Silicon Valley is watching every move the two billionaires make.

For those unversed, the rivalry between the two dates back to 2002, when Musk introduced his own aerospace company, SpaceX, as a rival to Bezos-owned Blue Origin.
