Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos is once again drawing attention for his stark economic warning, telling consumers to hold off on buying expensive tech appliances or cars as financial volatility deepens.

Originally made during a CNN interview three years ago, the comments resurfaced as market conditions now mirror the slowdown he once described.

Back then, Bezos noted that the economy “does not look good,” pointing to widespread layoffs and weakening demand across sectors.

Today, as inflation persists and borrowing costs remain high, his advice feels newly relevant.

The tech billionaire suggested that individuals pause before purchasing items like big-screen TVs, refrigerators or new vehicles, arguing that delaying such expenses reduces personal financial risk.

“If you're an individual considering purchasing a big-screen TV, you might want to wait, hold onto your money, and see what transpires,” the billionaire recommends.

“The same is true with a new automobile, refrigerator, or whatever else. Just remove some risk from the equation,” he stated.

Analysts noted that while the message sounds grim for consumer-focused companies, not all sectors face the same obstacles.

For instance, real estate has historically weathered periods of rising interest rates better than equities and bonds, according to data from investment manager Invesco.
