Princess Beatrice’s decision to invite disgraced parents backfires: Royals ‘dreading’ Andrew, Sarah’s appearance
Ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are expected to attend their granddaughter’s baptism
Following reports that Princess Beatrice has invited her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, to her daughter’s Christening on December 12, sources are now declaring that the gatherers are already “dreading” the disgraced couple’s appearance.
“It’s going to be a royal occasion, but everyone is dreading the thought of seeing Andrew there,” the Daily Mail reported an insider’s claim.
“Beatrice has, of course, invited her father. But things are not warm between them,” the source continued. “However, she’s worried about him. He’s going through a low ebb with his mental health, and she recognizes that he dotes on his grandchildren and it would be cruel to deprive him of the chance to attend the christening.”
While it was added that the former Duke of York’s invitation was likely a result of “some careful conversations and diplomacy” with King Charles, who had stripped his younger brother of his royal honours and status in October.
Moreover, the upcoming ceremony will mark Andrew and Sarah’s reunion with the royal household for the first time since their title removal.
“Beatrice is determined to keep the focus entirely on her daughter, but there is no escaping the moment’s significance as this will be the former Duke and Duchess of York’s first appearance at a royal family event and possibly the last time he steps foot in St James’s Chapel,” the insider further claimed.
The Christening will be observed for Princess Beatrice’s second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose, whom she had welcomed in January 2025.
