King Charles’ heartwarming moment with Meghan Markle on display at Clarence house
King Charles’ role in Meghan and Harry’s wedding remembered through iconic photograph
King Charles is seen in a touching photograph with Meghan Markle at Clarence House.
As per reports, a moving black and white photograph of King Charles escorting Meghan down the aisle at her wedding to prince Harry is on display at House.
The framed image could be seen during Queen Camilla's festive gathering on December 11, which invited children from Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity to help decorate the Christmas tree.
Positioned on a table in the background, the photo captures Charles, then Prince of Wales, walking arm in arm with Meghan at St George’s Chapel, Windsor castle, on 19 May 2018 after her father, Thomas Markle was unable to attend due to a heart attack.
Speaking in the 2018 BBC documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Harry recalled asking his father to step in, "I asked him to, and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said 'Yes, of course, I'll do whatever Meghan needs and I'm here to support you'."
Harry added that for his father the occasion represented “a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support and you know he’s our father, so of course he’s going to be there for us.”
The couple reminisced the moment and Charles’ role in their wedding during the 2022 Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan with the Duke noting that his father helped select the orchestra for the ceremony.
Meghan reflected on his importance, saying, "Harry's dad is very charming and I said to him, 'I've lost my dad in this,' so him, as my father-in-law, is very important to me."
The wedding photograph sits next to an official portrait from Prince Louis' christening, taken in the same year.
