King Charles’ ‘preferable’ secret: Why his cancer type cannot be revealed

King Charles is unable to specify the exact form of cancer he was diagnosed with “to support the whole cancer community,” according to one of his representatives.

Following the announcement of “good news” that his cancer treatment will be “reduced” in the upcoming year, a spokesperson told PEOPLE, “The advice from cancer experts is that, in his determination to support the whole cancer community, it is preferable that his majesty does not address his own specific condition but rather speaks to those affected by all forms of the disease.”

It was further confirmed that the King is not battling prostate cancer despite the fact that his initial announcement last year had followed the news of him undergoing a surgery for “prostate enlargement”.

In his latest message, the 77-year-old monarch shared the “good news” with the public that his “ own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year” — “This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years; testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the fifty percent of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives,” he added.

Notably, both King Charles and Kate Middleton received diagnoses for cancer in 2024, with the latter’s form of the illness similarly kept under wraps.
