Microsoft expands global AI skills programs with localised training programs
Microsoft is accelerating global AI education push by rolling out region-specific training initiatives
Microsoft has stepped up its efforts to bridge the global AI skills gap, announcing an expansion of its artificial intelligence (AI) training programmes with a strong focus on localisation.
The move comes as AI tools become more common in everyday work, raising urgent questions about how people across regions will gain the skills needed to use them effectively.
Training and knowledge sharing now sit at the centre of Microsoft’s AI strategy. In recent weeks, the tech giant has launched a series of region-specific initiatives designed to meet local workforce needs while supporting broader digital transformation goals.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand Ministry of Labour is partnering with Microsoft Thailand to deliver AI training and industry-recognised certifications to 150,000 workers.
The programme includes more than 280 AI courses in the Thai language, developer-focused data analytics training, and workshops for policymakers.
Additional modules are aimed at unemployed workers or those whose roles may be disrupted by automation.
Similarly, in Ireland, Microsoft has committed an additional EUR 4 million over the next three years to expand AI and digital skills education, building on EUR 8 million already invested since 2018.
