Bill Gates has once again sparked debate by promoting artificial meat as a potential solution to reduce methane emissions linked to cattle farming.

The Microsoft  co-founder has arged that changing how food is produced, particularly in countries with high meat consumption, is becoming increasingly necessary to address climate and environmental challenges.

The tech billionaire, who is also one of the largest private owners of agricultural land in the United States, believes alternative proteins could help lower the environmental impact of livestock farming.

He noted that reducing reliance on traditional cattle farming could play a meaningful role in cutting greenhouse gas emissions while supporting long-term sustainability.

According to Gates, the discussion comes at a critical time as climate change accelerates, pressure on land use intensifies, and global food demand continues to rise.

Feeding a growing population without further damaging the environment, he argues, will require major shifts in food production systems.

Reports cited by Bloomberg note that Gates has pointed to methane emissions as a key concern.

However, experts widely consider methane one of the most harmful greenhouse gases contributing to global warming.

Although it lasts roughly 12 years in the atmosphere, its warming effect can be many times stronger than carbon dioxide over that period.

Gates’ comments have reinforced an ongoing global debate involving governments, investors, and climate experts.
