During a warm August evening in 2013, Chelsea Cicio, aged 22, got a distressing call from her father, Bruno Rocuba.

He informed her that there had been a tragic incident, and her mother, Melissa Rocuba, was hurt.

Having lived next door to her parents in Simpson, Pennsylvania, Cicio was caught on a home security system, hastily running to discover what had taken place.

Her cries of "Mommy, Mommy" are audible as she enters the house, finding her mother had been shot in the head.

"As soon as I entered, you could see here … she was on the bed," Cicio shared with "48 Hours" correspondent Anne-Marie Green while they revisited the location for "Melissa Rocuba's Final Moments," an entirely new "48 Hours" episode airing Saturday (January 17) on CBS and available on Paramount+.

"Blood was spread all over the floor and side of the bed," Cicio described.

Cicio explained that her father would later reveal to her that he was sitting on the bed, cleaning his firearm when her mother sat and it accidentally discharged.

A single bullet had struck Bruno Rocuba's left hand and tragically hit his wife in the head.

"Blood was just all across the floor and the bed's side," Cicio conveyed.

Cicio shared that her father later mentioned he was on the bed cleaning his firearm, and when her mother joined him, it went off accidentally.

The single shot wounded Bruno Rocuba's left hand and struck his wife in the head.

Melissa Rocuba was transported by air to the hospital and placed on life support, as relatives hurried to her side. Bruno Rocuba was admitted to another medical facility where he underwent hand surgery. "Everyone deeply empathised with him," said Cicio's elder sister, Sabrina Rocuba. "She was his spouse for 25 years."
