Deezer is expanding its efforts to combat the spread of AI-generated music by making its detection technology available to rival streaming platforms.

The move builds on a tool the company introduced last year that automatically labels fully AI-generated tracks, removes them from algorithmic and editorial recommendations, and limits their visibility for listeners.

The music streaming service announced that it is opening access to the technology to help address the growing problems of AI-driven content creation, streaming fraud, and a lack of transparency in how music is distributed and monetised.

Deezer said the goal is to ensure that human artists and songwriters continue to receive proper recognition and fair compensation.

Alongside the announcement, Deezer shared new data highlighting the scale of the issue.

The company reported that roughly 85% of streams tied to fully AI-generated tracks are considered fraudulent.

Deezer now detects about 60,000 AI-generated songs every day, bringing the total number of identified AI tracks to 13.4 million.

By comparison, fully AI-generated music accounted for 18% of daily uploads in June last year, exceeding 20,000 tracks per day.

Deezer says its detection system can identify AI-generated music created using major generative models such as Suno and Udio.

In addition to removing such tracks from recommendations, the platform demonetises them and excludes them from royalty pools.
